Cristiano Ronaldo suspended from the Portugal national team following a conflict with the coach

Cristiano Ronaldo has been temporarily suspended from playing for the Portugal national team following a conflict with head coach Jorge Jesus. The reason was the 41-year-old footballer's unauthorized departure from the national team's camp. Now he could face a suspension of up to six months.
According to Article 160 of the Portuguese Football Federation's disciplinary regulations, unauthorized departure from the national team entails an automatic provisional suspension. The final decision will be made by the disciplinary council after reviewing the circumstances of the case and the footballer's explanations. In addition to a suspension ranging from one to six months, Ronaldo may also be fined between 510 and 1,020 euros.
The standoff began after a Nations League match against Norway, in which the Portuguese player remained on the bench. According to Ronaldo, the coach promised to bring him on for 30 minutes, but never did. Later, the parties allegedly agreed to publicly clarify the situation, but the footballer decided that Jesus had broken his promise again. The coach himself denied the existence of such agreements.
Later, Ronaldo apologized to the fans and teammates, admitted his mistake, and stated that he was ready to accept punishment. At the same time, he does not intend to end his international career. The Portugal national team's next matches are scheduled for November 14 and 17 against Denmark and Wales. Whether the forward will be back in time for these fixtures remains unknown.
Following the draw, the teams are set to meet in the capital of Uzbekistan.
