Football fans voted Cristiano Ronaldo's 2008 win as the best "Ballon d'Or" winner in history. In the voting held on the occasion of the award's 70th anniversary, the top ten positions were occupied solely by Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Fans consider Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 to be the greatest Ballon d’Or winner in history.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the award, the organizers conducted a poll on the website and invited fans to choose the B.O.A.T. (Ballon D’or Of All Time).
The nominees included footballers who were awarded the traditional Ballon d’Or at least twice: Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Marco van Basten, Michel Platini, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Kevin Keegan, Franz Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff, and Alfredo Di Stéfano.
A payment of 1 euro was required to vote. At the same time, users could cast an unlimited number of votes for their candidate.
