Reports have spread on social networks that a 1 million soum banknote has been issued into circulation in Uzbekistan.

"We inform that this information is groundless, false, and fake. It does not correspond to reality," the regulator's message reads.

For information, according to Article 39 of the Law "On the Central Bank," the nominal value of banknotes and coins in Uzbekistan is determined by the regulator.

In accordance with Article 40 of this Law, the Central Bank has the exclusive right to issue currency notes in the form of banknotes and coins as legal tender on the territory of the country. After the approval of new currency notes by the Senate, the Central Bank publishes the description of the new currency note and information about its issuance into circulation in the mass media.
