Questions without answers. Department of Internal Affairs commented on the story of the abuse of a daughter-in-law in Jizzakh
Law enforcement agencies of the Jizzakh region have commented on the story of a young woman who was hospitalized on September 6 with multiple burns. The Department of Internal Affairs confirmed the injuries and announced the start of an investigation, but did not specify under what circumstances the victim sustained the injuries and whether other persons were involved.
A resident of the Kakhramon mahalla of the Sharaf Rashidov district was taken to the Jizzakh branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care on September 6 after sustaining burns from boiling water.
Medics diagnosed the woman with 2nd and 3rd-degree burns covering 6–8% of her body surface. The injuries affected her left arm and shoulder, left thigh, right knee, and abdominal area.
An operational-investigative group was formed regarding this fact. Investigators inspected the scene, documented physical evidence, and ordered a forensic medical examination.
On September 8, the investigative department under the Department of Internal Affairs of the Sharaf Rashidov district initiated a criminal case, and investigative actions are ongoing. The Department of Internal Affairs stated that they will verify all circumstances of the incident, including information circulated on social media, and will provide a legal assessment of the event based on the results of the investigation.
At the same time, the "NemolchiUz" project, which brought the story to light, claims that this could be a case of group abuse involving five people. This information has not yet been officially confirmed. The authors of the publication also raise questions about why the family did not receive information about the progress of the case for a long time and why law enforcement officers only became active after the public disclosure.
According to the project, the victim's child is currently with the mother and grandmother, and their condition is not threatened. The woman's burns are gradually healing.
