Public venues offer tea and warm welcome in winter
A hundred venues across Surrey are taking part in this year's Warm Welcome.
Surrey County Council has launched its annual Warm Welcome scheme for the autumn and winter.
Community venues and libraries across the county will offer free hot drinks and the chance to connect with others until 31 March 2027.
The service is available in more than 100 venues across Surrey, with participating locations shown on a map on the authority's website.
"Keeping warm at home has become a challenge" said Mark Nuti, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and public health.
"No-one should have to feel isolated and cold in their own home" he said.
"Each space may offer something slightly different but they are all united by a shared commitment to providing warmth, kindness, connections and of course, a cup of tea."
The project, which has been running since 2022, will also provide energy advice and help people access other support services.
It is being backed by the Crisis and Resilience Fund, a government funded scheme that helps people on low incomes.
