A Shropshire charity says it anticipates strong demand this year for its campaign that provides Christmas presents to families who are struggling.

Little Stars, which distributes free essentials to families in need, has launched Santa's Little Stars, running from Saturday 24 October to Friday 4 December.

Members of the public are being asked to donate new, unwrapped toys and gifts at donation points in Shrewsbury's Darwin shopping centre.

The donations are wrapped and then given to children from birth to age 17, as well as pregnant women referred to the charity.

Little Stars said 2025 was its biggest campaign year so far, and it expected demand to remain high because many families are still facing financial pressures.

The charity launched Santa's Little Stars in 2020 and has handed out more than 8,000 presents since then, helping more than 2,100 children.

It added that donations can be dropped off at collection points outside the Collective, The Entertainer, Home Bargains and Clarks Shoes.
