Private companies have no right to cut off gas for refusing their services — Ministry of Energy

Private organizations that service gas equipment cannot demand that residents conclude a contract or threaten to cut off gas in case of refusal of their services.

According to the current rules, maintenance of gas equipment and networks can be carried out not only by gas supply organizations, but also by private companies. However, they must have the necessary permits for this. At the same time, the consumer themselves decides whether to use such services or not.

Maintenance can be ordered in written, oral, or electronic form. The service must be provided on agreed terms and at established tariffs.

At the same time, a private firm has no right to force the conclusion of a contract and impose its services. It also cannot disconnect a house from gas due to a refusal of service — it has no such authority.

The ministry separately explained: a private service company has no right to disconnect a consumer from gas for refusing its services.

If a consumer has a debt for natural gas, the issue of disconnection is decided only by the gas supply organization in accordance with the established procedure. A private company cannot do this on its own.

If there is a need to check a gas stove, boiler, or other equipment, residents can also contact the territorial gas supply organizations of "Hududgazta'minot".

If representatives of a private company demand that their services be used, threaten to cut off the gas, or arouse suspicion, this can be reported to the Ministry of Energy via the hotline +998 71 231-10-64 or through a special Telegram bot.

The Ministry of Energy also reminded: in winter, it is important to monitor the safety of the gas equipment itself. Residents are advised to regularly check the condition of gas stoves and boilers, and to monitor the serviceability and cleanliness of chimneys and ventilation. This is especially important during the cold season, when gas equipment is used more frequently.

Compliance with these simple rules will help avoid gas leaks, fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning.

The main rule for consumers: private maintenance can be chosen voluntarily, and no one has the right to demand it under the threat of cutting off the gas.
