Preparing for school: how much does it cost per child?
There are only a few days left until the start of the new school year in Uzbekistan. Parents are already buying clothes, shoes, bags, and school supplies for their children. So, how much money is being spent on preparing for school this year? A Kun.uz correspondent conducted a survey on the street and asked parents how much they spend on preparing their children for the new school year.

School preparation costs: how much is spent per student?
The prices reported by parents vary. Some families spent about 800 thousand soums on all the necessary purchases, while others spent 1.5 to 2 million soums.
According to one respondent, her school uniform cost 600 thousand soums. Her shirt cost 110 thousand, her skirt 200 thousand, her bag 130 thousand, and her shoes 300 thousand soums. School supplies alone cost 400 thousand soums for her two children.
Some parents noted that in order to reduce costs, they sew clothes themselves or use clothes left over from last year.
In families with several children, the costs are significantly higher. The survey also found parents spending more than 3 million soums on clothes for their three children and more than 2.5 million soums on stationery.
Another interviewee said that two pairs of trousers cost 600-700 thousand soums, two white shirts cost another 700 thousand soums, and two sneakers cost 500 thousand soums. Together with the remaining stationery, the total cost was 2-2.5 million soums.
In general, according to the survey results, it became clear that the cost of preparing for school for one child starts from 600 thousand soums and rises to 2 million soums and even higher.
