Preferential electricity tariffs will be developed for non-gasified areas

A presidential decree "On measures for further development of the fuel and energy sector" has been adopted. The decree defines the task of introducing preferential electricity tariffs for areas where gas has not reached.

The document provides for negotiations with international financial institutions regarding the electrification of areas where natural gas access is difficult. It is also planned to involve experienced consultants based on the technical assistance of international financial institutions. Together with them, a concept for the electrification of areas where natural gas access is difficult will be developed. By February 2027, the electrification concept must be prepared, consisting of:

- establishing preferential electricity tariffs for consumers to be electrified, as well as for consumers who do not have natural gas supply and have been using electricity for heating;

- introducing support mechanisms for purchasing highly energy-efficient household appliances to be replaced as a result of electrification.

The project is planned to be submitted to the government by April 2027. The Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the National Energy Efficiency Agency are designated as the responsible executors for the work in this direction.

As a reminder, in October 2024, former Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov said that an instruction had been given to provide a 50 percent discount on electricity tariffs for non-gasified households as well.

Later, it was also announced that a corresponding draft decision had been developed in this regard.

In October 2025, it was reported that this initiative would be implemented gradually, and a pilot project would be tested in some areas.
