Uzbekistan's electricity grid enterprises illegally collected 5.5 billion soums from entrepreneurs

The Competition Development Committee has initiated a case against regional electricity grid enterprises. Entrepreneurs were illegally charged 5.5 billion soums for reconnection to the grids.

According to the committee's press service, under a presidential decree and government resolutions, the fee for reconnection after debt repayment was abolished. However, an analysis of data provided by the Business Ombudsman showed that from August 23, 2025, to February 2026, electricity grids collected 5.5 billion soums from businesses in 965 cases.

Signs of unjustified income have been identified. The case has been initiated against "Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari" (Regional Electrical Grids) and its enterprises.

The agency reminded that domestic flight passengers in the country are entitled to compensation if a flight is delayed due to the carrier's fault.
