Pilots fought on board a Dubai airline flight and raised the alarm with a hijack signal

A Flydubai plane en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv sent a signal of a possible hijack and was diverted to Saudi Arabia. There were about 180 passengers on board, most of whom were Israeli citizens.

As reported by the Israeli outlet Ynet, the crew of the Boeing 737 first turned on code 7700, indicating a general emergency, and then code 7500, indicating a possible hijacking of the aircraft. After this, the plane descended sharply from 15,000 to 5,000 feet and disappeared from radar.

The airliner was denied permission to land in Israel. Consequently, it turned around over Jordanian territory and headed for Saudi Arabia. The Israeli Air Force scrambled fighter jets. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Minister of Defense held an emergency security meeting.

The plane has already landed safely at an airport in Saudi Arabia. As it became known, the cause of the incident may have been a fight on board. According to CNN, the conflict may have occurred between crew members in the cockpit.
