Persimmon from Turakurgan enters foreign markets
In the Turakurgan district of the Namangan region, preparations of the persimmon harvest for export are underway. The harvested fruits are sorted and assessed for quality, after which they are prepared for storage and shipment to foreign markets.
The total area of persimmon orchards in the Namangan region is 1,875 hectares, of which 326 hectares are located in the Turakurgan district.
Persimmons grown by local farmers and entrepreneurs are in demand abroad. The products are supplied to the CIS countries and the United Arab Emirates. This year, the first batch of Turakurgan persimmons was exported to South Korea.
When preparing products for foreign shipments, special attention is paid to food quality and safety requirements. The "field to table" principle is being implemented in the region, which provides for control at all stages — from cultivation and harvesting to sorting, storage, laboratory control, disinfection, and the issuance of phytosanitary documents.
To prevent the spread of harmful organisms and quarantine pests, specialists regularly conduct phytosanitary monitoring of persimmon orchards and take appropriate preventive measures.
Expanding the geography of exports opens up additional opportunities for persimmon producers in the Turakurgan district.
The growth in supply volumes to foreign markets is expected to contribute to increasing the income of farmers and entrepreneurs, creating new jobs, and strengthening the economic potential of the region.
