A video has surfaced on social media showing people in a compartment car on the Sariasia-Termez train riding in the aisle, with some sitting on the floor. Uzzheldorpass reported that on weekends and holidays, the number of passengers may exceed the number of seats. Tickets for this train are sold without assigned seats.
Uztemiryulyulovchi (Uzzheldorpass) responded to videos circulating on social media showing passengers on the Sariasiya-Termez train (Surkhandarya Region) forced to stand or sit in the aisles of compartment cars. One video also reported a malfunctioning cooling system in the car.
According to the company, the train on this route consists of four cars. Tickets are sold without seat assignments, meaning passengers are seated freely.
Uztemiryulyulovchi emphasized that each car has 81 seats and is equipped with all necessary amenities. The company assured that "the cooling systems function smoothly in the summer, and the heating system functions in the winter."
Company representatives acknowledged that on weekends and holidays, due to the sharp increase in passenger traffic, some trains may experience overcrowding.
The company is currently reviewing the information published on social media and promises to take appropriate action.
It's worth noting that in mid-August, Surkhandarya Region Governor Ulugbek Kosimov already voiced criticism of the region's transport infrastructure.
"The railway is completely inadequate. By the time you get to Tashkent, you'll be sick. There's no cooling system, no basic amenities. No tickets, no amenities at the station. It's impossible to transport people on the commuter train from Termez to Sariasiya," Kosimov stated at the time.
