Ozone apps are no longer available on Google Play
A number of apps belonging to the Russian marketplace Ozon have been removed from the Google Play Store. The company said the reasons for this are not yet known. The European Union had previously imposed sanctions on Ozon Bank.
**Ozon apps disappear from Google Play Store**
On the evening of August 14, Ozon announced that several of its apps have been removed from the Google Play app store for Android devices.
In particular, the Ozon, Ozon Fresh, Ozon Seller, Ozon Job, and Ozon Travel apps are no longer available on Google Play. The company noted that it is not yet clear why these apps were removed. However, they are still available to users in the Apple App Store and Huawei AppGallery.
Earlier, the Ozon Bank app, which was included in the European Union's sanctions list, was also removed from Google Play.
In recent months, a number of Russian-owned digital services have been removed from major app stores. For example, in June, Apple removed a number of VK-related applications from its App Store, including VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, VK Messenger, VK Video, VK Music, Dzen, and Mail.ru.
In July, similar VK applications also disappeared from Google Play. This happened after the European Union imposed new sanctions on entities related to the holding. Explaining the restrictions, the European Union noted, among other factors, VK's role in suppressing civil society and the opposition in Russia.
The payment service Yandex Pay was also removed from the Apple App Store. This decision was explained by the sanctions imposed on Yandex Bank.
