Oksana Chusovitina made her way into the Asian Games finals

The 51-year-old legend of Uzbek sports, Oksana Chusovitina, has reached the vault finals at the 2026 Asian Games, which are taking place in the Japanese cities of Aichi and Nagoya.

In the qualifications, the gymnast received a score of 13.266 and finished fourth, thereby securing her place in the finals. The final vault performances featuring Chusovitina are scheduled for September 24-25.

Chusovitina is already competing in her seventh Asian Games. She stated that she does not intend to retire as long as her health permits. Speaking to journalists on September 22, the athlete also announced her intention to compete at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

"I will try to win a spot at the 2028 Olympics. This is sport, this is gymnastics. If there is an opportunity, I will try to compete at the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles as well," Chusovitina said.

If the athlete succeeds in achieving this goal, the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles will be the ninth of her career.
