Ecological expertise is now becoming not just a permit, but a system for proactive management of environmental risks.
In order to convey to the general public the essence of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 234 of May 11, 2026 "On measures to introduce new mechanisms for assessing environmental impact", a press conference was organized at the Center for Content Preparation for Mass Media.
This event, organized by the Center for State Ecological Expertise under the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, was attended by environmental specialists, project developers, entrepreneurs, media representatives and bloggers.
At the press conference, it was emphasized that ensuring ecological safety in the country, rational use of natural resources and reducing negative impact on the environment are among the priority areas of state policy.
According to the Director General of the State Ecological Expertise Center, G. Mukhamedov, "This resolution establishes new mechanisms for conducting state ecological expertise and environmental impact assessment, conducting public hearings and public ecological expertise, strategic ecological assessment, and regulating the activities of developers of environmental documents. In developing this resolution, the legislation and practice of foreign countries in the field of ecological expertise, such as Japan, Germany, South Korea, the European Union, Canada, the USA, Turkey, Georgia, Singapore, the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan, were studied."
The event provided information that the new resolution improved the environmental impact assessment system based on international approaches, assessed projects based on their risk level, introduced screening and scoping stages, assessed carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, increased public participation, and increased responsibility of project developers.
