“Not yet transferred to the metro’s balance sheet.” Why are the electronic ramps in the Tashkent metro not fully operational?

In Tashkent, 38 electronic ramps installed at metro stations are not fully operational because adjustment work has not yet been completed and they have not been accepted onto the subway's balance sheet. “Not yet transferred to the metro's balance sheet.” Why are electronic ramps in the Tashkent metro not fully operational?

The installation and adjustment of electronic ramps at Tashkent metro stations have not yet been completed, and because they have not been accepted onto the metropoliten's balance sheet, they are not being fully put into operation. This was stated on October 16 at a press conference held at the Content Preparation Center with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Transport, a Gazeta correspondent reports.

According to Mirakbar Ikromov, head of the Tashkent City Main Transport Department, a study conducted with deputies a week ago revealed that ramps were installed, but the process of their official acceptance into operation has not yet been completed.

“The contractor installed them, but did not hand them over for operation to the end. Therefore, while they are working at some stations, there are cases where they do not work at others,” he says.

According to Doniyor Nurullayev, press secretary of “Tashkent Metropoliteni”, the installation of electronic ramps is being carried out by order of the engineering company “Single Customer Service” under the Tashkent city khokimiyat. Technopark LLC was designated as responsible for construction, installation, and adjustment work.

“After the work is fully completed, once we make sure that the installed ramps really create comfortable conditions for passengers, it is planned to accept them onto the metro's balance sheet,” says Nurullayev.

According to him, the metro administration has repeatedly officially appealed to the responsible organizations regarding speeding up the installation of ramps and ensuring their quality.

Nurullayev stated that it is planned to install electronic ramps at all underground stations. For now, 38 of them are available for passenger use on a trial basis. The first ramp was launched in test mode at the Xalqlar Do‘stligi station.

“Passengers can use the ramps and evaluate their shortcomings and convenience. Each ramp has instructions indicating how to use it and which button to press to call it. Facilities have also been created for persons with disabilities,” says the press secretary.

According to Doniyor Nurullayev, special elevators for persons with disabilities have been installed at five stations on the Sergeli line and the elevated ring road. However, due to some passengers using these elevators without following the established rules, malfunctions occurred in them several times.

“Despite repeated warnings, cases are observed where elevators intended for persons with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant women are also used by other passengers,” says the press secretary.

He stated that on the initiative of the metro leadership, a high-capacity elevator designed for all passengers is being installed at the Chinor station.

“While the previous elevators carried five passengers at a time, the new elevators will be able to serve 50−60 passengers at a time. All passengers will be able to use them. In addition, the elevators also meet the requirements for rapid evacuation of people in emergency situations,” says Nurullayev.

He emphasized that in the future, it is planned to install such elevators at other stations of the elevated ring road in stages, based on passenger flow.
