North Korea has tested a cluster warhead designed to simultaneously destroy targets over a large area. NK News reported on this.

The country plans to supply military units with four types of these weapons by the end of 2026. The Missile Administration of North Korea conducted the test on October 31 to evaluate the capabilities and destructive power of the warhead.

"The cluster warhead is capable of reducing targets over an area of 12–13 hectares to ashes with the highest density of strike power," the administration said in a statement.

No information was provided regarding where the test took place or how experts evaluated the destructive impact of the weapon. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) confirmed that a missile was launched toward the Yellow Sea on October 31.

According to the JCS, South Korea and the US had been closely monitoring military activity in North Korea even before the missile launch. The two countries maintained combat readiness by sharing intelligence data with each other.

"Our military is closely monitoring various developments in North Korea and maintaining the necessary capabilities and combat readiness to respond decisively to any provocation," the statement said.

North Korea had previously condemned the use of cluster munitions by other countries, calling such weapons "weapons of mass destruction."
