New wind and solar power plants to be built in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, it is planned to increase the capacity of wind power plants to 12,000 MW and the capacity of solar power plants to at least 7,000 MW by 2030. Additionally, the creation of electricity storage systems in all regions of the country is envisaged.

New wind and solar power plants will be built in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, new wind energy projects are planned to be implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the Navoiy, Bukhara, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions.

According to the report, by 2030, it is aimed to increase the capacity of wind power plants to 12,000 MW, and the installed capacity of solar power plants to at least 7,000 MW.

Additionally, there are plans to establish energy storage systems in all regions. Their parameters and operating modes will be adapted to the characteristics of energy consumption in the regions and the needs of large industrial enterprises.

The Ministry of Energy has been instructed to accelerate negotiations with investors and take necessary measures regarding projects that are falling behind schedule. Investors will be selected based on transparent selection processes.

According to the Ministry, in 2025, the total installed capacity of power plants in Uzbekistan amounted to 24.7 thousand MW. Of this, the capacity of solar and wind power plants exceeded 6.3 thousand MW, while the capacity of hydroelectric power plants was nearly 2.5 thousand MW.
