The share of "green" energy in the total energy production in Karakalpakstan has reached 23%. By 2030, this figure is expected to increase to 76%. The republic will become one of the largest centers for "green" energy production, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated during his speech in Nukus.

Karakalpakstan should become one of the largest centers of "green" energy production in the coming years, the President stated

In the coming years, Karakalpakstan should become one of the largest centers of "green" energy production. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at a meeting in Nukus.

In recent years, 860 MW of new energy capacity has been commissioned in the republic. Electricity production has increased fourfold, reaching 5.33 billion kilowatt-hours. This is almost three times the annual demand of the population and enterprises.

The head of state noted that the share of "green" energy in total production has reached 23% thanks to the construction of wind power plants in the Beruniy and Karauzyak districts.

The day before, Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched a number of projects and initiated the construction of new ones. Among those launched are two wind power plants in the Karauzyak district with a total capacity of 300 MW and an energy storage system with a capacity of 100 MW.

In the Kungrad district, the construction of a major 1.5 GW wind power plant is entering an active phase. The $2.6 billion project is being implemented jointly with Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power. It is planned to lay 1,500 km of high-voltage main electrical grids, build three 500 kV substations, and modernize two more.

By 2030, wind power plants with a total capacity of 3,300 MW are expected to be commissioned, and the share of "green" energy is projected to rise to 76%. In addition, energy storage facilities with a capacity of 400 MW will be created.
