New fees to be introduced for cargo transportation to Afghanistan via Termez
Starting November 7, cargo delivery from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan via Termez will be subject to additional payments. The new tariffs, approved by JSC "O'zbekiston Temir Yo'llari", will apply to rail and road transport and depend on the distance and type of cargo.
The company announced this on its Telegram channel.
Additional fees have been set for transporting goods from stations in Uzbekistan to Termez and the Termez Port, from where they are forwarded to Afghanistan. The company explained that this decision was made to prevent revenue losses.
For most types of cargo, the delivery fee to Termez will range from 800 thousand to 1.3 million soms per railcar for rail transport and from 2.8 million to 7.6 million soms for road delivery.
Separate tariffs are provided for wheat: from 6.8 million to 26 million soms per railcar for rail transport and up to 33 million soms for road delivery.
When shipping cargo via the Termez Port station, additional payments for most goods will range from 3 million to 8 million soms per railcar. For wheat, tariffs will be higher — from 13 million to 33 million soms.
All amounts are specified excluding VAT.
Earlier, Uzbekistan proposed a number of construction and infrastructure projects to Afghanistan. Among them are a residential and public complex on a 60-hectare plot near Kabul International Airport, as well as a business center and residential buildings in the Afghan capital itself.
