Additional details have become known about Marco Rubio's visit to Uzbekistan
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Samarkand on October 17–22 as part of a trip through Central Asia and India. In Uzbekistan, he will take part in a C5+1 format meeting and head the American delegation, which will include leaders of more than 200 companies.
As reported by the US Department of State Spokesperson's Office, the trip will aim to strengthen Washington's strategic cooperation with Central Asian countries, as well as expand trade and investment ties.
In Samarkand, Rubio will participate in the C5+1 ministerial meeting, bringing together the United States and five countries of the region — Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. In addition, bilateral talks are planned with high-ranking representatives of each of the countries.
Special emphasis will be placed on the economy: the Secretary of State will head a delegation of more than 200 executives from American companies. According to the State Department, this is the largest US business mission to the region, which is expected to mark a new stage in the development of trade and investment relations.
After Samarkand, Rubio will head to India, where he will hold meetings in Mumbai and Jamnagar. The discussions will focus on strategic partnership, energy, and new investment projects.
Earlier, US Special Representative for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor had reported Rubio's visit with a delegation of a hundred companies, but now the number of business leaders has doubled.
