Nearly half of Uzbeks have no savings – CB
According to the Central Bank's consumer sentiment survey for the second quarter of 2026, 46.4 percent of respondents stated they have no savings for the upcoming period. This figure remained virtually unchanged compared to the previous quarter.
The Central Bank notes that the lack of financial reserves among nearly half of the population limits their ability to cover unexpected expenses or adapt to potential changes in income. At the same time, there was no significant change in the share of those who stated that their savings would last up to 1 month, 1–3 months, 3–6 months, and more than 6 months.
Nevertheless, the population's expectations regarding saving money in the upcoming period remain positive. 64.3 percent of survey participants expect their savings to increase in the future. This figure is 1.5 percentage points lower compared to the first quarter.
The share of those who expect their savings to remain unchanged stood at 23.3 percent, which is an increase of 1 percentage point compared to the previous quarter. Meanwhile, those who expect their savings to decrease accounted for 12.4 percent. In the first quarter, this figure was 11.9 percent.
In the second quarter of 2026, the savings sub-index stood at 69.2 points. This is 1.4 points lower compared to the first quarter, but nearly 1 point higher compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
