Missing cat returns home after 10 years in Britain

A cat that went missing in Britain 10 years ago has been reunited with its owner, the BBC reported.

Charlie, who went missing in April 2016, was found by his owners, Lucy and Hannah Robertson, who had been trying to find him. Hannah said: "We had a couple of leads... we tried to find him but we couldn't. We never gave up hope."

Lucy said she had asked people around her and posted on Facebook, but there was no sign of Charlie. "It was heartbreaking. We were worried he had been hit by a car or had died," she said.

But on July 29, 2026, Hannah said she was shocked when she received a call from a veterinary clinic in Abercarn that Charlie had been found. A neighbor saw Charlie in the bushes and, thinking he was abandoned, fed him for several weeks. He then took the cat to the vet. The vet called Hannah using the number on the microchip. The vet was reportedly shocked to learn that the cat had been missing for ten years.

Lucy said the cat had not changed much, just like in old photos. She said the cat was still being socialized with other pets. "I think he's feeling famous right now," she said.

Earlier, 60 cats were rescued from a boat abandoned off the coast of Washington state, USA. Police and animal control officers spent a week searching the ship and carefully removing the animals. Thus, on August 11, the last cat was rescued.
