Mirziyoyev ordered that the Samarkand region be promoted to the forefront

Mirziyoyev set the goal of making the Samarkand region a leader.

In 2026, 6.9 trillion soums were allocated for infrastructure development in the Samarkand region, with construction, renovation, and commissioning of approximately 1,500 facilities already completed. This was announced on August 25 by the region's khokim, Adiz Boboev, at a ceremony to launch new industrial, service, and social facilities, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to Boboev, work is currently ongoing on 917 more facilities in the region. Of these, 515 have already been commissioned, and the remaining 405 are scheduled to open within the next three months.

Significant work has been completed in the area of educational infrastructure. In 2026, approximately 50,000 11th-grade graduates were enrolled in the Samarkand region, while 92,500 children were enrolled in first grade. Despite the growing enrollment, the occupancy rate in 83 schools exceeded twofold.

To reduce the burden, 139 schools were built, reconstructed, or renovated. Following this work, the occupancy rate at these schools dropped to one.

At the same time, the network of preschool institutions is expanding in the region. According to the khokim, 66 kindergartens are currently being opened. Preschool enrollment has increased from 63% to 75% in one year.

A centralized water supply system has been established in 57 mahallas. As a result, 82,000 residents now have access to water for the first time. Furthermore, 23 emergency bridges are being reconstructed and 13 new ones are being built in the region. Boboev personally opened three of them yesterday.

The khokim also spoke about the transformation of the Sattepo neighborhood in Samarkand. According to him, the area was previously in dire straits: elevators didn't work, roofs leaked, there was no reliable hot water supply, basements flooded, and waste disposal was difficult. As a result, residents, as Boboev noted, even considered selling their homes and moving.

During the improvement project, water was pumped out of basements, an elevator repair facility was established, and elevators were restored. Twelve waste collection points were also installed in the area. A sports complex and a small market were subsequently built in the place of one of them.

Later, a tram line was extended to the area and a terminal station was established. A five-story eco-market now operates on the site of the former market, housing service facilities and children's playgrounds. According to the khokim, the complex has created jobs for more than 500 people.

During a ceremony on August 25, 72 major industrial and service projects and 91 social facilities commissioned in Uzbekistan for the 35th anniversary of the country's independence were also presented.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, commenting on the changes in the region, declared that a "new Samarkand" is being formed in Samarkand. The President noted that the region must continue its work and set the goal of bringing the Samarkand region to first place in all areas.
