Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Emir of Qatar on the sidelines of the CICA summit

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). During the conversation, the parties reviewed the development of bilateral cooperation and promising areas of interaction.

According to the president's press service, the meeting noted the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries. In recent years, cooperation has been expanding thanks to contacts at the highest level.

Qatari companies cooperate with Uzbekistan in energy, the chemical industry, food security, transport, and construction. According to the Uzbek side, since the beginning of 2026, the volume of utilized investments has noticeably increased, although specific figures are not provided.

One of the upcoming areas of cooperation will be the participation of a representative delegation of Uzbekistan in the Doha Forum in December. As part of the event, meetings of the joint Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council are also planned.

In addition, Mirziyoyev and Al Thani exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda.

Earlier at the summit, the president put forward initiatives to strengthen regional cooperation and form a comprehensive infrastructure of trust among Asian countries.
