Melania Trump wants to bring Russian and Ukrainian representatives together at the White House

U.S. First Lady Melania Trump plans to bring representatives of Russia and Ukraine together at the White House. This was announced by the White House. The meeting is expected to take place on November 5. On the same day, Melania Trump will deliver a speech regarding the humanitarian operation conducted in the Russian-controlled city of Oleshky in the Kherson region.

“First Lady Melania Trump will personally bring together representatives of the two nations currently at war — Russia and Ukraine — at the White House. This event will be a unique moment in American history,” the White House statement said.

It is currently unknown exactly who will participate in the meeting on behalf of Moscow and Kyiv.

On October 23, the White House announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire to safely evacuate the population of Oleshky. The agreement was reportedly reached with the participation of Melania Trump.

The parties suspended hostilities from October 27 to November 1 and conducted a joint humanitarian operation in Oleshky. City residents were given the opportunity to be evacuated to either Russia or Ukraine.

The operation was overseen on the Russian side by human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova, and on the Ukrainian side by ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

According to Le Monde, the operation to evacuate civilians from Oleshky was actually prepared by the intelligence services of Russia and Ukraine. However, it was presented to the public as an initiative implemented through the mediation of Melania Trump.

The city of Oleshky came under Russian control in 2022. By the autumn of 2026, the humanitarian situation in the city had deteriorated sharply. Residents faced shortages of food, electricity, and necessary medical assistance.
