**Ceasefire in Oleshky. What is known about it?**
Early in the morning on October 27, a quiet regime began in the city of Oleshky, Kherson Oblast, Ukraine. An agreement on this was reached with the help of US First Lady Melania Trump.
According to David Arakhamia, leader of the "Servant of the People" party faction in Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada and a member of the Ukrainian negotiating group, the quiet regime should last until 22:59 on November 1. This was also confirmed by Yana Lantratova, the Human Rights Commissioner in Russia. Arakhamia called the quiet regime in Oleshky "the largest de-escalation since 2022."
Melania Trump stated that the quiet regime was introduced two days earlier than planned and its geography was expanded to ensure the safe passage of humanitarian convoys. According to her, this was also confirmed by the Chief of the General Staff of Russia, Valery Gerasimov.
On the evening of October 27, Ukraine and Russia reported that both sides were observing the ceasefire regime. The Kremlin noted that the humanitarian operation in Oleshky was "going according to plan."
Many details of the humanitarian operation remain unclear: it is unknown which roads will be demined, where and how the city's residents will be evacuated, whether they will be allowed to leave directly for Ukraine or remain in Oleshky, and whether families will be permitted to leave with their children. According to the Financial Times, those wishing to leave for Ukraine will first be taken to territory under Russian control. It is known that the operation will be conducted in several stages.
According to Petro Andryushchenko, head of Ukraine's Center for Occupation Studies, the evacuation from Oleshky is scheduled for October 30. Information about those wishing to leave the city is being collected urgently. How the evacuation will be carried out is currently classified information, he added. Andryushchenko suggested that how the population is evacuated will depend on the demining of roads. According to him, the government in Kyiv expects that a route across the Dnipro — directly to the territory under its control — will be organized for residents who want to leave for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Saldo, the appointed "governor" of the Russian-influenced part of Kherson Oblast, said that residents of Oleshky could be evacuated to Crimea or Rostov, which were annexed by the RF. According to him, transport and temporary accommodation centers have already been prepared for them. At the same time, Saldo added that assistance would also be provided to those wishing to leave for Ukraine.
