There have been no cases of deliberate arson in Uzbekistan's markets, most fires are caused by overloading electrical networks. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Colonel Khurshid Sotiyev, answering a question from a Gazeta correspondent after an event in Tashkent on August 13.
He denied the assumptions that fires in the markets are being started intentionally.
According to Khurshid Sotiyev, during the construction of the markets, electrical cables and wires will be able to withstand the specified load. However, later, as entrepreneurs install additional refrigerators, freezers and other electrical equipment, the load on the network will increase. This leads to the heating and melting of cables, which can cause fires, especially during high temperatures, he said.
"There have been no cases of deliberate fires in the markets. The cause is only electrical equipment or safety requirements are violated when using gas appliances," said Khurshid Sotiyev.
The deputy minister said that another cause of fires is the violation of the rules for the use of gas cylinders. In particular, failure to conduct annual testing of cylinders, failure to drain the condensate accumulated in them, and refilling without checking their technical condition pose a risk.
"Filling gas cylinders for private cars at gas stations or storing them near sources of heat and open fire also increases the risk of fire," he said.
Sotiyev added that the use of open fire is strictly prohibited in the market area.
