Manchester City ready to offer €99m for Liverpool player - Romano

Manchester City are preparing a €99m bid for Liverpool midfielder Cody Gakpo, according to a report from insider Fabrizio Romano. The City have opened talks with the Dutchman's representatives in a bid to sign him.
According to Romano, Tottenham are also interested in Gakpo, but the player himself prefers Manchester City. City are now ready to make an official offer of £85m (€99m) to the Merseyside club.
Liverpool are not averse to selling Gakpo, as the club have already agreed a deal to sign PSG winger Bradley Barcoglia for £123m. They also understand that Gakpo could lose his place in the starting line-up, with the likes of Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha already in the squad.
The transfer is expected to bring significant revenue to Liverpool, as they signed Gakpo from PSG in January 2023 for just £35m. However, with striker Hugo Ekitike out until 2027 due to a serious injury, and Alexander Isak not in top form either. With such problems in the attack, selling the versatile player could cost Liverpool a lot of money this season.
For your information, Kodi Gakpo's current contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2030. Transfermarkt has estimated his market value at €60m.
