A man in his 60s has been charged after drugs and cash were found during a passenger bag search.

About 5kg of cocaine concealed inside lollipops was seized by revenue officers and gardaí (Irish police) at Dublin Airport.

The find was made on Thursday after revenue staff searched a passenger’s baggage and discovered the drugs hidden in bags of confectionery.

During follow-up searches, gardaí seized €16,000 (£13,700) in cash and additional controlled drugs worth €14,500 (£12,500).

A man in his 60s, who was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure, appeared in court on Friday morning.
