Two charged after €2.3 million worth of drugs seized in Dublin

Gardaí uncovered 18kg of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €1.8m (£1.5m) in Dublin.

Following a Garda operation on Friday, two men have been charged in connection with the seizure of illicit drugs valued at over €2.3 million.

A man in his 50s and another in his 60s were taken into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking after Gardaí discovered 18kg of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1.8 million, in Dublin.

An additional 4kg of suspected cocaine, valued at approximately €400,000, was recovered from a vehicle at the scene.

Subsequent searches of properties in Dublin led Gardaí to an extra 5,000 MDMA tablets, estimated to be worth €50,000, and 4kg of cannabis, with an estimated value of €56,000.

The combined street value of all seized drugs is estimated to exceed €2.3 million.

The charged individuals are scheduled to appear before Dublin District Court on Monday. Gardaí have stated that investigations are continuing.
