Latvian Minister of Welfare dismissed for drunk driving

Reynis Uzulniyeks was appointed to this position in May 2026.

Latvian Minister of Welfare Reinis Uzulnieks has been dismissed from his post, LSM agency reported. According to the report, police detained Uzulnieks for driving under the influence. His blood alcohol content was 3.5 per mille.

"Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs issued an order to dismiss Uzulnieks from the post of Minister of Welfare. Uldis Augulis has been appointed acting Minister of Welfare," the report said.

Uzulnieks was appointed to this post in May 2026.
