Large libraries to be built in all districts of Tashkent - khokim
According to Shavkat Umrzokov, places have already been identified for large and modern libraries to be built in 12 districts of the capital. "In the most advanced countries, libraries are one of the most beloved places in the city. As we are about to reach a new stage in development, libraries in our capital must also become the most desirable and comfortable places," said the Tashkent khokim.

Tashkent City Mayor Shavkat Umrzakov announced that large and modern libraries will be built in all 12 districts of the capital, and their locations have already been determined.
The mayor said in an interview with UzA: “It is planned to build a large, interactive and modern library in each of the 12 districts, and their locations have already been determined. You know, our goal is not just to build a building where books are stored, but to create a public space that millions of people will visit each year and satisfy their scientific and spiritual needs.”
According to Umrzakov, book corners will also be gradually established in all 585 neighborhoods of the capital.
In accordance with the presidential decree signed on July 27, the establishment of bookstores in shopping centers with an area of more than 5 thousand square meters in Tashkent has been made mandatory.
“In the most advanced countries, libraries are one of the most beloved places in the city. As we move to a new stage in development, libraries in our capital must become the most welcoming and comfortable places. Even on our busy and touristy streets, bookstores and book cafes will open on preferential terms,” the mayor emphasized.
He also said that it is planned to transform the place, which was historically the center of book sales, into a public space specializing in reading culture. In July of this year, it was announced that the complex will be completely restored to its historical appearance, and the project will be implemented with the discussion of readers and the public.
According to the mayor, infrastructure alone is not enough, incentives are also needed.
The above resolution also provides for the direct transfer of municipal properties (buildings and structures) provided for the organization of book sales to booksellers for a period of 5 years by the resolution of the Tashkent city mayor.
For your information, the number of libraries in Fergana has decreased sharply.
