Lang Lang performed for the first time on Registan Square in Samarkand

On September 6, a concert by one of the most famous pianists of our time, Lang Lang, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, conducted by Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, took place on Registan Square in Samarkand. The event was organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan.

This concert was a continuation of the Foundation's international cultural initiatives aimed at developing cultural exchange and strengthening humanitarian ties through art. Following a performance at the foot of the Great Wall of China in Beijing, the musicians presented a new program on Registan Square — a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the main symbols of Uzbekistan's historical and cultural heritage.

Lang Lang is one of the most influential musicians of the 21st century, whose creative biography spans the world's leading concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Musikverein. The pianist performed at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, participated in the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and has repeatedly represented classical musical art at major international cultural and state events.

Through his performing activities and educational projects, Lang Lang has become one of the key popularizers of classical music in the world.

In Samarkand, Lang Lang and the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, conducted by Alibek Kabdurakhmanov, performed a program that brought together masterpieces of world classics.

The main piece of the evening was Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, one of the most famous works in the global piano repertoire. The program also included works by Uzbek composers, conveying the richness and originality of the national musical tradition.

The concert on Registan Square continued a series of large-scale international musical projects implemented by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan.

In recent years, the country's historical spaces have become venues for performances by outstanding world artists, contributing to the development of international cultural dialogue and strengthening Uzbekistan's position as one of the prominent centers of international cultural life.
