Kyiv was hit by a massive attack, killing 15 people and injuring more than 30.

On the night of August 20, Kyiv was subjected to a massive Russian air strike. Fifteen people were killed, more than 30 were injured, and residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged. August 21 was declared a day of mourning in the Ukrainian capital.

Kyiv and the Kyiv region were hit by a massive missile and drone attack on the night of August 20, lasting nearly nine hours. The shelling killed 15 people in the capital and injured more than 30. More than half of the fatalities occurred in the Solomyansky district, where a nine-story residential building was hit. August 21 has been declared a day of mourning in Kyiv.

According to Kyiv authorities, hits were recorded in three districts of the city, damaging residential buildings, warehouses, and critical infrastructure.

The shelling also affected the Zhytomyr, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. Over the past 24 hours, the death toll across Ukraine has reached 23, with 132 injured, CNN reports, citing Ukrainian regional military administrations.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 36 Kh-101, Iskander-K, and Kh-59 cruise missiles, eight Kalibr missiles, two Pardoly missiles, as well as an unspecified number of Onyx, Zircon, Iskander-M, and S-400 ballistic missiles, and 168 attack drones at Ukraine overnight.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced a "massive strike with precision weapons" against Ukraine, specifying that the targets were "military industrial enterprises, a transport and logistics center, and warehouses in Kyiv and the Kyiv region."

It was also reported that on Thursday night, Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed more than 720 Ukrainian drones over several regions, including the Moscow region and Tatarstan.
