The kiwi sapling planted in his house has borne fruit in five years, turning into a beautiful kiwi fruit in the garden. The gardener, together with his grandson, has also started growing kiwi seedlings from kiwi seeds and is sharing both fruits and seedlings with his neighbors, receiving their blessings.
**What kind of tree is this?**
Esonjon Ota says that in 2014, he saw a seedling in Samarkand that he had never seen before. When he asked his friend what kind of tree it was, he smiled and said that it was a kiwi. The gardener, intrigued, brought his seeds and grew three seedlings.
The seedlings grown from the seeds bore 12 fruits in 2019. All the seedlings are now bearing fruit. The gardener also grows seedlings every year. He does not take the fruits and seedlings to the market, buyers come directly to his house to buy. Currently, there are 15 productive kiwi trees and 1,500 seedlings on the plot. Esonjon Ata donates seedlings and fruits to neighbors and relatives, receiving their blessings. He even passed a fruit branch to his neighbor's children so that they could enjoy it.
He grows the "Hayward" kiwi variety in his household. Now he plans to grow the "Gold" variety as well. The fruit of the "Gold" variety is red inside, while that of the "Hayward" variety is blue.
**Kiwi from the sunny country...**
The fruit yield is increasing year by year. Kiwi is a plant that loves water very much. It is said that the homeland of the fruit is New Zealand. Father Esonjon is happy that his labor was not in vain and that he got a harvest. He is teaching his children and grandchildren how to garden. He only puts biohumus under the kiwi, does not use any poisons or chemicals, and aims to grow a natural, clean product.
Last year, 25 boxes of fruit were picked. The seedlings are propagated from seeds according to the recommendations of the agronomist of the botanical garden. When planting, it is necessary to pay attention to planting male and female seedlings. Currently, there are 15 productive kiwi seedlings in the house, among which one male kiwi seedling is planted for pollination.
Buyers plant seedlings starting in the fall. Depending on the weather, they are not planted until the ground freezes. Otherwise, they can be planted in November, December, and if the ground does not freeze, in January. The seedlings will be sold by April 15-20. Last year, kiwi seedlings were sold for 50,000 to 300,000 soums, depending on their condition.
Esonjon Ota believes that the kiwis he grows are much tastier and more delicious than Chinese kiwis. "The taste of kiwis from the sunny country is still different," says the gardener.
