Khokimiyats of Uzbekistan warned against the inadmissibility of forced labor
The State Labour Inspectorate has warned khokimiyats (regional administrations) against the inadmissibility of forcing employees to work overtime, as well as on weekends and public holidays.

The State Labor Inspectorate has sent official warning letters to the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, the khokimiyats of the regions, Tashkent, as well as districts and cities, regarding the inadmissibility of forced labor.
The agency emphasized that employees must not be involved in work beyond the established working hours, as well as on weekends and holidays, without their consent, under threats, or under pressure.
This warning is intended to prevent violations of labor legislation and protect the rights of workers.
According to the State Labor Inspectorate, during the first eight months of this year, three officials of khokimiyats were held administratively liable in connection with cases of forced labor.
The inspectorate stated that all identified violations related to forced labor will be considered in accordance with the procedure established by law. Strict measures will be taken against those found guilty.
