Citizens of Kazakhstan will be able to travel to Israel visa-free starting from 2027

A visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and Israel is likely to be introduced in early 2027. Once the relevant agreement is signed, Kazakhstan is expected to become the first country in Central Asia and the South Caucasus whose citizens can enter Israel without a visa.

The agreement between the two countries could be signed in early 2027. Israel's Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Yoav Bistritsky, said in an interview with journalists that an agreement on introducing a visa-free regime between the countries is being prepared.

According to the diplomat, the Israeli side has agreed to abolish visas. Currently, work is underway on the relevant agreement in this regard.

"We are expecting the signing of an agreement on a visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and Israel. It is planned to be signed during the visit of the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs. We are currently working on this. There is no exact date yet, but we hope it will happen in early 2027," Bistritsky said.

He noted that once the agreement comes into force, citizens of Kazakhstan will have the opportunity to travel to Israel visa-free.

"Citizens of Kazakhstan will be the first citizens in Central Asia and the South Caucasus to have the opportunity to visit Israel completely visa-free. Israel has already agreed to this stage, and now we are waiting for the signing of the agreement," the ambassador added.

In January of this year, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar paid an official visit to Astana and met with Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. At that time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan stated that the two countries were preparing to introduce a mutual visa-free regime in order to develop tourism.

In April 2026, Israeli President Isaac Herzog paid an official visit to Astana at the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

At the end of the visit, the two countries signed a memorandum of intent to conclude an intergovernmental agreement on a visa-free regime for holders of national passports.

Additionally, the Israeli side expressed interest in establishing direct flights with Kazakhstan. Herzog noted that such flights would serve to develop trade and business relations.

One of the important steps in Kazakhstan's relations with Israel was the decision to join the Abraham Accords.

On November 6, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan would join the Abraham Accords. Trump said he had spoken by phone with Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He called Kazakhstan the first country to join the Abraham Accords during his second presidential term.

Shortly thereafter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan officially confirmed the country's accession to the Abraham Accords. Astana stated that this decision aligns with Kazakhstan's balanced and peace-loving foreign policy.

At the same time, Kazakhstan emphasized that it stands for resolving the Middle East conflict on the basis of international law, UN resolutions, and the two-state principle.

In January 2026, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, also commented on this decision, describing the emergence of the Abraham Accords as a diplomatic initiative of Donald Trump and officially announcing Kazakhstan's decision to join them.
