Kazakhstan purchased two military aircraft from Spain

Kazakhstan has acquired two Airbus A400M Atlas military transport aircraft from Spain. The first was delivered to the country at the end of 2024, and the second in November 2026. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

The A400M can be used not only for defense tasks, but also in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations, evacuating the population, and delivering humanitarian aid.

“It will ensure the participation of Kazakhstani servicemen in international peacekeeping missions. The availability of aircraft of this category expands the capabilities for independently transporting the national peacekeeping contingent,” the ministry's report stated.

The new aircraft will be piloted by Kazakhstani crews who underwent special training at the Airbus center in Seville, Spain. They will also be serviced by engineering and technical staff. The Airbus A400M military transport aircraft is present in a total of ten countries: Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia, France, Great Britain, Spain, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

“It expands the capabilities of the Armed Forces by combining the ability to transport heavy equipment over long distances with the capability to land on short unpaved runways,” the Ministry of Defense added.

For information, the Air Force of Uzbekistan received a C-390 Millennium multi-purpose military transport aircraft belonging to the Brazilian company Embraer in September. Thus, the country became the first operator of the C-390 Millennium aircraft in Central Asia. The contract for the delivery of the aircraft was signed at the end of 2024, and it also includes specialist training, technical support, as well as the supply of spare parts.
