Kallas accused Lavrov of lying at the G20 meeting
European Union chief diplomat Kaja Kallas stated that Russia is not demonstrating in practice that it is ready for peace negotiations on Ukraine. Accusing Sergey Lavrov of presenting false information, she called for increased pressure on Moscow.

Kallas accused Lavrov of lying at the G20 meeting
Kallas made this statement in a comment to the AFP agency on October 30, on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting held in Atlanta, USA.
She emphasized that the Russian Foreign Minister presented many lies and distorted information at the meeting. European participants, however, managed to refute them.
When an AFP journalist asked whether Lavrov had expressed readiness to make concessions to end the war, Kallas answered in the negative. She stressed that Russia's practical actions do not match its talks of readiness for negotiations.
Kallas called on Moscow to prove its readiness for peace talks in practice. She also described July, August, and September as the most fatal months for civilians in Ukraine.
According to DW, earlier German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that European participants refused to take the traditional joint photo with Lavrov due to the war in Ukraine.
Wadephul acknowledged the necessity of dialogue to discuss disagreements with Russia. However, he stressed that such contacts should not create the impression that relations have returned to business as usual.
