Kakhramonzhon Olimov called the kidnapping charges fabricated and stated that pressure was being exerted on the business

Kakhramonzhon Olimov stated that the kidnapping charges were fabricated and reported pressure on his business

Anorbank shareholder Kakhramonzhon Olimov said that following his kidnapping in Paris in June 2025, he and his business faced new episodes of pressure. The entrepreneur also rejected the human kidnapping charges that led to him being placed on an international wanted list, calling them fabricated. Currently, the notice regarding his wanted status is absent from Interpol's public database.

This was stated in a new statement by Olimov published by the law firm Fedida Associes.

This story began in the summer of 2025, when, according to Olimov, he was kidnapped in Paris, taken out of the city, and held in the basement of a mansion near Nice for almost two days, with his captors demanding a ransom.

According to Olimov, the French police investigation resulted in the detention of five suspects, who remain in custody awaiting trial. Two more, according to him, are under judicial supervision. He also stated that all petitions for the release of the detainees on bail were rejected.

In September 2026, The Insider, citing a source close to Olimov's inner circle, reported that the entrepreneur had been arrested in absentia and placed on a wanted list in a kidnapping case. According to the publication, he is suspected of organizing a human kidnapping. The Insider wrote that the charges were brought under part two of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which carries a penalty of five to ten years of imprisonment. At the same time, Uzbek law enforcement agencies have not officially confirmed this information. Olimov himself rejects the charges and claims he is challenging them in court.

On September 24, a card for the entrepreneur with a red notice appeared on the Interpol website. It listed his date and place of birth, citizenship, as well as a case category related to human kidnapping and unlawful restriction of liberty. By October 14, the card had disappeared from Interpol's public database. The organization did not comment on this circumstance.

In the statement published by the law firm Fedida Associes, Olimov called the allegations fabricated. He also stated that over the past year and a half, he and his family had been subjected to attacks that he considers illegal. According to him, the pressure also affected his business. The entrepreneur expressed confidence in the judicial systems of France and Uzbekistan and expressed hope that those responsible would be held accountable.

Against the backdrop of the situation surrounding Olimov, Anorbank stated that it does not affect the bank's capital, management, and daily operations. The Central Bank of Uzbekistan also reported that the financial institution is operating as usual and fulfilling its obligations to clients. According to the regulator as of September 1, 2026, Anorbank's assets stood at 21.4 trillion sums.

At the same time, on October 2, Olimov filed a resignation letter from Anorbank's supervisory board. The final decision is to be made by shareholders at a meeting on October 28.
