Jaloliddin Masharipov may play in Tehran derby — media

Jaloliddin Masharipov is likely to play in the Tehran derby, according to media reports.
Jaloliddin Masharipov, an Uzbek footballer who plays for Iranian club Istiklol, is likely to play in the match against Persepolis on Wednesday, September 2.
Masharipov was injured in a match against Sepahan on January 1, 2026 (come off the bench in the 73rd minute and was replaced in the 90th minute) and underwent surgery on January 31. Due to a long period of absence from playing practice and a lengthy individual recovery process, he missed the 2026 World Cup.
Masharipov has now regained his fitness and joined Istiklol's general group training. He was included in the roster for the first three matches of the Iranian championship, but did not play. The player was not included in the roster for the match against Fulad in the 4th round. According to local media, the coaching staff decided to rest the player in order to keep him for the match against Persepolis.
For information, the match between Istiqlol and Persepolis, which is part of the 5th round of the Iranian championship, will start on Wednesday, September 2, at 21:00 Tashkent time at the Naqshi Jahon stadium in Isfahan. It is noteworthy that two more Uzbek players will play for Persepolis - Oston Orunov and Igor Sergeyev.
