It has been revealed how much debt the population owes to banks in Uzbekistan

The amount of the population's debt to banks in Uzbekistan has been disclosed

The balance of loans taken by the population of Uzbekistan from banks increased by 18.8 percent within one year. The Central Bank stated that the main part of the debts is directed towards home purchases.

As of August 1, 2026, the balance of loans allocated to individuals in the country reached 239.8 trillion soums. The volume of debt increased by 37.93 trillion soums, or 18.8 percent, over the course of the year.

The largest share belongs to mortgage loans — 88.14 trillion soums. This type of debt of the population increased by 14.1 trillion soums, or 19 percent, compared to the corresponding period of 2025.

According to the analysis, the balance of microloans held by individuals amounted to 46.74 trillion soums. Such loans are provided to entrepreneurs or the self-employed in amounts up to 300 million soums. The remaining loans and their changes in annual value are as follows:

Microloans — 51.14 trillion soums (decreased by 19.2 percent in a year);

Auto loans — 40.5 trillion soums (8.6 percent growth);

Education loans — 6.84 trillion soums (17 percent growth).

Additionally, the balance of consumer loans amounted to 508 billion soums, while other types of debt (credit cards and overdrafts) amounted to 5.91 billion soums.

In its previous analysis, the Central Bank revealed that among the population who borrowed from banks, 29 percent had more than one loan.
