The cartoon “Masha and the Bear” is very popular among children and is watched with love in many countries. While some viewers simply follow the adventures of a cheerful girl and a caring bear, others try to explain what is happening on the screen. Often these attempts take on a terrifying tone.

**Masha is the ghost of a dead girl**

According to the most popular fan theory, Masha is the ghost of a murdered girl. She died at the hands of the Bear. That is why she does not grow up and, as punishment for her cruelty, constantly torments the bear. The girl’s parents, unable to bear this loss, abandoned the empty house where the main character lives.

**The Bear left the girl an orphan**

According to another interpretation, it was not Masha who died, but her parents. The Bear is the cause of this again. Perhaps the predator ate them or simply attacked, or maybe he showed a circus trick and caused a heart attack.

After that, the Bear sees that one of the dead is a little girl. Feeling guilty, he decides to take care of Masha. The girl, however, is too young to understand what happened and accepts the bear as her new father.

**The plot is based on a sad legend**

Another theory is connected with an ancient ritual. According to it, among the Slavic and Finno-Ugric peoples, a girl who died before she could get married was symbolically given in marriage to a bear - the teeth or even the paw of a predator were placed in her coffin. This was done so that the deceased would not turn into an evil spirit.

Perhaps Masha and the Bear are just such a couple. So, both of them live in some other world. True, due to the age difference, their relationship is more like a father-daughter relationship. But who would understand the logic of the other world.

The bear died in the episode "First Meeting" when he went fishing or when he worked in the circus before the events of the cartoon began. One of the saddest theories shows the Bear not as a villain, but as a victim. At the same time, this theory explains where not only Masha's parents, but also the mother of the predator disappeared. In the episode called "At the Rest", you can see a map. The heroes are standing near the village, but the girl does not want to go there at all. In the episode "Quartet Plus", the Bear's father appears, but her mother is not mentioned anywhere.

After that, the hypothesis arose that very evil and dangerous people live in the village. They tried to kill the Bear's entire family, but only the mother died - the rest were saved by Masha's parents. Because of this, they were expelled from the village, leaving only the little girl. Now the rescued Bear is forced to take care of her.

**The wolves are to blame for everything**

There is another group of characters in the cartoon that can turn all the troubles upside down. Although the wolves in "Masha and the Bear" usually play a funny role, in reality they are dangerous predators.

Perhaps at some point the little girl's parents were attacked by wolves. Trying to save her life, the parents called the special services. But in the end, the predators ate not only Masha's parents, but also the doctors who arrived in the ambulance. This is evidenced by the old car in the forest.

The similarity of these characters to the characters from the cartoon “Masha and the Bear” has led fans to speculate that Gregory could be the grandson or great-grandson of the little girl.
