A 63-year-old Ukrainian citizen has been detained in Warsaw. The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) suspects him of attempting to assassinate a Ukrainian defense industry representative on behalf of Russian special services. A Warsaw court has remanded the suspect in custody for three months.

The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) announced on August 20 that Ukrainian citizen Sergey P. had been detained in Warsaw. He is suspected of attempting to assassinate an unnamed representative of the Ukrainian defense industry.
According to information, 63-year-old Sergey P. was actually arrested on August 5.
The ABW statement said that the assassination was planned to be carried out in the city of Irpen, Kiev region, Ukraine. The suspect planted an explosive device under the possible victim’s car.
According to the investigation, the car was supposed to be detonated remotely. However, the mechanism did not work and the explosion did not occur. After that, the suspect left Ukraine and went to Poland.
Polish investigators believe that Sergey P. acted on the orders of Russian special services. A Warsaw court has sentenced him to three months in prison on charges of attempted murder using illegally obtained explosives.
**Other cases involving Russian special services**
Recently, Poland has been reporting frequent cases of arrests of individuals suspected of having ties to Russian special services.
On August 13, it became known that a Russian citizen had been detained in Poland. He was suspected of preparing to kill a person with US and Ukrainian citizenship.
According to RMF FM radio station, the detainee was born in Donbass and planned to assassinate Ukrainian rapper Albert Vasiliev - Kyivstoner.
Earlier, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) accused the musician of organizing a large-scale drone attack on a strategic enterprise in the Moscow region. Kyivstoner categorically denied these charges.
In addition, in July, an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen was charged in Poland. According to the investigation, he carried out sabotage actions on behalf of Russian special services aimed at causing tension in relations between Kiev and Warsaw.
According to the Polish prosecutor's office, the suspect committed a total of 47 criminal acts in 2024-2025. These included the desecration of monuments, including memorials dedicated to Poles who were victims of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UIA).
