US and Iranian representatives held separate talks with mediators on Monday. These talks took place as part of new efforts aimed at stopping the seven-month war.
According to Reuters, any talks taking place this week will focus on a revised version of a seven-day proposal presented by Iran within the framework of UN events.
Iran's seven-day plan envisages the cessation of hostilities on all fronts, the unfreezing of billions of dollars of Iranian assets, the lifting of sanctions on its oil, and the removal of the US blockade.
After that, Iran will allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The parties will resume negotiations on Iran's nuclear program and the destruction of highly enriched uranium. Trump rejected these proposals on Saturday.
According to Iranian media, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is awaiting the official US response to the latest proposals. "If the Americans claim they want to reach an agreement or a peaceful solution, we have presented that very solution," Araghchi said.
President Donald Trump also said on Monday that US officials held separate talks with mediators, without disclosing further details.
The war began in late February with US and Israeli attacks on Iran, claiming thousands of lives over seven months. It shook global markets as vital sea routes for oil transportation were blocked. The US and Iran had previously agreed to a ceasefire twice — in April and June — during mediated peace talks. However, these agreements quickly collapsed.
North Korea is preparing to send about 10,000 military personnel to Russia. At the same time, more than eight thousand North Korean soldiers are already on the country's territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in his Monday address, citing intelligence data.
The Ukrainian leader said that the military is currently being "selected for training and subsequent deployment." "The Russian government plans to increase the recruitment of foreigners. It is important that the governments of the countries from which Russia is recruiting people into its army oppose this. We will inform every government," Zelensky said.
