The Yemeni authorities are preparing for a major offensive against territories under Houthi control. The start of the operation was announced by the country's President, Rashad al-Alimi.

Government forces intend to conduct combat operations until the areas controlled by the Houthis are returned. Earlier, the authorities announced a general mobilization.

According to Reuters, more than 100,000 Yemeni troops could be involved in the operation. Saudi Arabia is expected to provide air support.

The agency's sources specified that ground actions will be carried out by Yemeni forces, while the Saudi military will take charge of air support.
