In Uzbekistan, the "Green Lot" system will be introduced starting from 2027

The "Yashil lot" (Green Lot) system will be introduced in Uzbekistan starting from 2027

Starting from January 1, 2027, the "Yashil lot" system will be launched in Uzbekistan. In accordance with this, the opportunity will be created to allocate existing land plots to individuals and legal entities on a contractual basis for the creation of green parks.

As noted in the President's decree on strengthening the role of mahallas in the implementation of the "Yashil makon" (Green Space) nationwide project, the Committee on Ecology, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the khokimiyats of regions and the city of Tashkent will be authorized to allocate land plots for the establishment of green parks.

In this regard, the allocated areas will be used only for the designated purpose. The lands will not be transferred to the ownership of individuals or legal entities. Construction, installation of various structures, and other types of activities on them will be prohibited. Additionally, public access to such areas will not be restricted.

According to the decree, starting from the autumn season of 2026, mahalla micro-forests will be established in mahallas with limited land areas, between multi-apartment buildings, and in the yards of schools and kindergartens. For this purpose, at least 2 tree and shrub seedlings per square meter will be planted using the dense planting method on an area of 200–1,000 square meters.

In areas where land allocation is not possible or which have concrete and asphalt surfaces, small public gardens will be created. In this case, local khokimiyats and sponsors will install large seedling pots, the Forestry Agency will provide quality seedlings, and mahallas will organize planting and care activities with the participation of citizens.

Based on this document, an active two-month campaign of "Cleanliness and Tidiness" will also be held in Uzbekistan starting from October 1. From January 1, 2027, the "Mahallani yashillashtirish" (Greening the Mahalla) package will be introduced within the framework of the "Yashil mahalla" project.
