The Innovative Laboratory of Forest and Ornamental Plants and a specialized In-Vitro laboratory have begun operations on the territory of the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University).
The In-Vitro laboratory is designed for microclonal (genetically identical) plant propagation, cultivation of virus-free seedlings, and biotechnological research. Under sterile conditions, specialists will cultivate biological material of genetically valuable species, ensuring the preservation of the plant gene pool. The technological process includes the selection and sterilization of healthy material, propagation of shoots on special nutrient media using hormones, rooting, as well as the gradual acclimatization of seedlings before planting in greenhouses. The implemented method will allow for the rapid production of mass batches of high-quality planting material for forestry and agriculture.
The second laboratory combines several research areas, including the breeding of fast-growing and valuable tree species, as well as nut crops. The laboratory's specialists are engaged in comprehensive soil analysis, including the determination of humus levels, essential nutrients, moisture, and salinity levels, which is necessary for developing measures against soil erosion and land degradation.
In addition, laboratory analysis and certification of seeds of coniferous, deciduous, desert, and medicinal plants for germination and purity are conducted here.
The new laboratories will help restore forests, improve soil quality, implement biotechnology, and train young scientists.
